I am Katrina Williams, 40 years young from a few miles away, Springfield, that is!  I am currently in my 20th year of teaching, and I must say, the years have flown by.  I am excited to be teaching a wonderful group of third graders this year.

I graduated as Valedictorian from Hunter-Kinard-Tyler School in 1995 and went on to attend Clemson University. YES, I am a HUGE Tiger fan and my blood will forever runneth ORANGE!  I graduated Cum Laude from Clemson University with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education in August 1998 and started my teaching career that same August.  I also began working on my Masters Degree at South Carolina State University, and graduated in 2000 with my Masters of Education in Elementary Education and Early Childhood.  Then in 2002, I earned my 30 hours above my Masters from an online program through Walden University where I specialized in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment.  I also am endorsed in Gifted and Talented Education.  Throughout my 20 years of teaching, I have taught In Orangeburg Consolidated School District 4, Barnwell District 29, and Richland 1, but I am happy to now be in my third year here in Barnwell 19 at Macedonia Elementary School!  Go HAWKS although I must also remain true to my TROJANS!

I am the proud mother of my daugher, Alana Gleaton, who is a SENIOR at HKT High School.  She is ranked #1 in her class and is taking college courses throughout this year.  My daughter keeps me very busy (I wouldn't have it any other way), but now that she is driving, I am not quite as busy during the week as I used to be.  She takes dance classes three nights a week, is involved in the youth church group, participates in pageants, does community service with the Helping Hands Ministry in Norway, takes piano lessons and spends time with her boyfriend and friends.   I am sure this school year is going to fly by and I know I will be a lost mother when she heads off to college so I am savoring every moment possible.

As for me, I love to travel and would go somewhere every weekend if I could afford it.  My favorite places to visit are the Bahamas (Atlantis is gorgeous) and the BIG APPLE!  I enjoy going to concerts and to the movies.  Spending time at Lake Murray is also something I enjoy doing with my family.  Attending pageants and modeling events with my daughter is also lots of fun!  I also enjoy keeping up with family and friends through Facebook!  Alana and I have one pet, a terrier mix that we adopted from Pawmetto Lifeline, named Milo!
