Welcome Parents and Guardians

My name is Cassie Bates and I have over 10 years of experience in the field of Early Childhood Care and Education. The 2018-2019 school year marks my 5th year of teaching in the public school system in which all 5 years have been spent in Kindergarten at Macedonia Elementary School. As a 1998 graduate of BHHS, I am truly honored to serve the children in the Blackville-Hilda community! Prior to teaching at MES, I taught 4K at the Aiken/Barnwell Regional Head Start for 3 years. I have also been employed as an Assistant Director of Building Blocks CDC, a 1st and 2nd grade afterschool teacher at Millbrook Baptist CDC, and a child caregiver at Building Blocks CDC in Aiken, SC. I have a strong passion for working with young children!

I have also served as Mentor Teacher at MES and as a 21st Century Afterschool Teacher. For the past three summers, I have had the pleasure of facilitating the Countdown To Kindergarten Program through the Barnwell County First Steps Program. The greatest accomplishment of my career was being named the 2017 Teacher of the Year at MES! Education ROCKS!!!
